2014 year reflection

It is nearly time for us year 8 students to finish our journey through primary and intermediate. And to start a new journey through college. This year has been so awesome. Learning new things. We had fun getting to know each other. We all will miss this school so mutch. This year we did a lot of fun  activities together and learnt how to work as a team.

The Roots.

ROOTS.....

Today we made a spiral about our hope and desire. It was to put in a bottle to make a sculpture to put up in the viaduct. When we were ready Petelo came and asked us to come over to the hall. And then we put our artwork in the bottles by the help of Alice and Tina. After we played a game with Alice. She made us laugh.

Special place

Special Place....

My special place is Home. It is my special place because I can relax and enjoy the company of my family. Also It has a lot of good and bad memories. It is a very old place. My family lived there for nearly 20 years.

Without a home I will not know where my special place will be. It is a very special place to me. Home is a place my family and I  belong. My home is the heart off the family.

Everyone in my family  grew up in the same house. Sometimes People criticise my house. By saying its old and ugly. But I don't care because it holds all my childhood memories. One of my memories was when I was riding my bike down the hill in front of my house I went straight into the wall off the house.

A Lot of celebrations and gatherings have been held in my house. Everyone in my family has had their birthday in the family home. Even Christmas. Some people think my home is ugly, but thats not it. Its the love inside the house that makes it home.

Refeltion on about reading.

The book i read today was called THE FEAR FACTOR. It was about a group of kids That joined a competition called fear factor. It was about the challenges they did and who scared they were to join. Some of them were going to chicken out but they didn't because they didn't want to be called a chicken.  They were all scared off something. The characters are Carlo,Benji,Stace,Hari,Maddy,Pumpkin and Kylie. For my activity I had to put words in the correct place. And I had to Create a news paper. The website I was on is Sun-shine Online.

Mat weaving

In room 7 we are learning about procedural writing. We were folwing the steps on how to weave a mat.First we cut the paper into strips that are 3 cm apart. Then we put black paper strips threw the coloured paper. It was really fun weaving the mats. After we finished everything Mrs Tui  laminated or mat so that we can use it as a table mat.

Kindness virtue

Kindness is a virtue that everyone should practices. Also we use it in our everyday lives. Kindness is showing someone that you care about them. Or doing something to make them feel happy. Also it is showing love and compassion to others around us who are sad or needs your help.

If we did not have any kindness no one will listen to each other and also there will be a lot of violence in this world. And this world will  be lonely without kindness. Kindness helps everyone feel connected to everything and everyone.

You can practise kindness by looking around you and seeing if someone is not happy about something and talk to them about it.

Virtues Assembly

On Friday we had a awesome assembly. Our virtue was Kindness. First we had a prayer then we presented our learn about kindness to the rest of the school. My group read a acrostic. Also 2 members of the group read an  original poem that they wrote. And we were supposed to do a skit but we were not organised.

Then the rest of the class presented their work. Also Mr Coakley  presented a book to a mother for always going to the read along activate after school for kids.But before that Mr Coakley Presented the virtues certificates.

After that then Mrs Pole and Mr Coakley presented the caught being goods. Then we ended the assembly of with a kindness song written by deja and hub 3.

Do you have a best friend?

While I do. A good friend to me means a person who makes you feel important. Also they are supportive when you need them. Your good friend can be from school,community and other places.

Your good friend can be  the person you were brought up with or from a different  nation.Your good friend is the one that you hangout with most days. They also can make your feel happy. When you are in a bad time of your life. A good friend  can help you  when you're in a complicated situation.

Everyone has a good friend in this world and if you don't look around you and you will see your good friend. A good friend is someone who cares for everyone not just the people they like. Also when they go out into the community and helps people for example  helping the disabled, help the elderly cross the road not just barging past them and ignoring that person.

Some good friends give back to the community. Also they things to pupils of  the community. Knowing that they won't give back. Not giving and wanting something in return.

I have lots of  good friends around me. They support me and help me like I would to my best and good friends.

When your angry your good friend makes you happy. Can be anyone. It could be Jesus it could be someone that lives far away from you. But you will always know who your good friend is.

My awesome experience in ROTORUA

My most happiest time in Rotovegas was finally getting to rotorua. the ride was so long and boring. Also It smelt very bad. it smelled because off the sopher That was my first time in rotorua. The first thing we did was driving around trying to look for our holiday home. We stayed there for 1 whole week.

My most boring time was  on the way down to Rotorua. Because it was so hot and my sister was annoying me and i was starting to get angry.It felt like the ride was never going to end.

My fun part of my holiday was going on the luge. the luge is an awesome ride where you race down a steep hill in a kart that can fit one adult and toddler. You have to be 6 and up to ride down in your own kart. There are also 3 stages to ride the first one is could scenic the second one is intermediate and a the last and most thrilling one is Advanced.

I was so awesome I was speeding down the track like a racing car driver.

My sad part was leaving Rotorua. I was sad to leave Rotorua because I had so much fun that whole week and it felt like home.

Holiday writing

My awesome holiday highlights. I got to  ride a Dirt Bike for the first time in my whole entire life. It was so cool. First my friend taught me how to ride it and how to start it. After that I rode away in style. My other highlight was going shopping with my mum to get my Birthday present.

My lowlight was staying home and doing nothing it was so boring I was just thinking of something to do. This was my lowlight because is was so BORING.

My dream holiday would be to travel all around the world and meet all the famous graffiti artist and have them teach me these techniques also paint with them. And come back to NEW ZEALAND.

Term 2 refection

My highlight this term is swimming it was so awesome because that was the first time swimming with my my best friends Jay and Frank. Also soccer it was really fun to. My best highlight was getting to meet professional New Zealand graffiti artist Jonny wartmon. He showed me how to do some 3D effects.He does so really awesome looking art pieces

My lowlight for this term was my attitude to other teachers in the school. Also making bad choices. Next term I am going to make good choices and be a leader of the school.

Next term I am looking forward to learning about new countries. Also our new kiwi sport Rugby league and Badminton. And showing the teachers in the school that I can be a leader.

Week 8 reflection

My Highlight for this week 8 we're learning about the water spout because I didn't know what a Water Spout . By the end of reading time I knew quite a lot about water spouts.

My lowlight for week 8 were making bad choices and getting smart to the teachers and nearly having a fight with Savelio.

Next week I am looking forward to our hundred maths party.

I need to think about the Consequences of my actions because I might put myself in danger.

Week 6 reflection

My awesome highlight for this week is swimming because we got to do some races.

My lowlight for this week was getting a sore throat and a blocked nose. I hate catching the flu.

Next week I am looking forward to meeting NZ graffiti artist Johnny Wartmon. Because I have never met a real graffiti artist. I also have a lot of question to ask him.

Nicksons vist

On Wednesday we were lucky to have a visit from Nickson From Mai Fm. He came to tell us about what it is like to work at a radio station.

First we started with a prayer.Then he told us about working at a radio station. He also asked some questions and recorded it on his awesome looking phone. He asked us what kind of songs do they play on Mai Fm. Taiwan said that they play One Direction songs. Then he started laughing and asked him to sing a little bit of the song.

He told us that they only play 170 songs a per week. Also that he gets up very early in the morning. He said he gets up at 3.30am in the morning. I can't believe he gets up that early. I can't even get up that early.

He has worked at 5 different radio stations in 7 years. He said that his friend Toast always walks around on cold days in shorts and jandals.

His other friend Nate always gets him into trouble at work. When he was a primary school he never got bullied. He also said look for a job with heaps of money.I really enjoyed his visit.

Cathloic schools day

Today was an awesome day because st Joseph's joined our school for catholic schools day.We started off our day with a beautiful mass.

After mass we got to meet st joseph’s whole school. I met a cool friend named Lachie. He was good friend.He even joined in playing touch. He told me that his school was way smaller than St pius X catholic school. Also there field is smaller. Lachie is year six.

After lunch we went into the hall for a little singing concert. It was really cool.Then saint josephs went back to school.

Narrative

Tiger was watching his favourite TV show, Sponge Bob Square Pants, it was his favourite show ever. He never missed any part. Everyday with popcorn, chips and a drink he would sit and watch. Tiger was the most powerful hero out of all good heroes. As Tiger the super hero was watching TV in the afternoon, the news came on, he was shocked to see that Beast, the most evil Villain in the world was trying to destroy the world. So Tiger went and got changed quickly. He went to the city and when he got there he said that it was very cold and windy because Beast had already started his tornado to destroy the world. Tiger shot his laser at Beast to stop his tornado, but it did not work so they both flew up into the sky and they both were getting blown away because the wind was too strong. Tiger tried his hardest to fight the evil beast. Thankfully Tiger just flew straight through the wind and shot a laser at Beast. Beast started another tornado. Both powers were shooting at each other, but both of their attacks stopped in the middle rebounding off each other. Tiger shot more laser at him but he just made his tornado stronger! Tiger was still shooting lasers at him. “Why wont you give up?” “Because I am not going to give up you are not that strong.” So Beast just made his tornado even stronger. Then Tiger had to use his special weapon in his back pocket. No one in the world knew that he had a special weapon. He pulled the special weapon, it was a gun that shoots out flaming balls. He shot one at Beast. Beast just fell down and was not to be seen ever again.

Punchinello story

Once upon a time there was a little wooden person created by a man called Eli. Once Punchinello the wooden person had heaps of dots on him. Then he tried to jump but he because his wood was rough and his paint was cracked he could not jump at all. After that he saw a girl Lucia. She had no dots at all. So he went and asked her why don't the stickers sick on to her. It is easy go and see Eli every day and believe in him. Then he went home and looked out the window and saw the all the other wemmicks and their stickers. So he went to visit Eli. When he got he wanted to go back home until Eli stopped him and talked to him. He asked Eli about Lucia she was the that told me about you. The stickers don't stick on her because she doesn't worry about what others think she only worries about what I think. Eli said I made you and I love you trust me and the stickers won't matter to you anymore. When Punchinello left a dot fell off him.

My first day at swimming

On a nice beautiful day we went to the courts for swimming. We saw Mr Burton for the second time. First we had to go and get changed. Then we went in to the tent and waited for the girls to come, because girls always take ages. When we were ready to go in to the pool we had to wash our feet in a bucket before we went in to the pool. I was the second one to get in the pool in my group. When we got in to the pool we had to hold on to the side of the pool it was so warm that I thought that I was in bed. Then Mr Burton said to swim to the other side of the pool. Then he told us one by one to swim back to the other side of the pool he said if you don't know how to swim walk. After that we played a game called captain’s coming he told us to come in the middle of the pool. Finally he told us how to play then we had to go back and fourth to each side of the pool. After going back and fourth he said scrub the deck so everyone had to scrub the bottom of the pool. After an awesome game of captain’s coming Mr Burton told everyone to come up to the steps. Then he told us to get in to a group of two. I was with Salamona. We had to float on top of the water. If our partner could not do it we had to help them. Finally our time was over, we had to get out of the pool and then it felt like I was in Antarctica. By Dalaney
